Ahead of the upcoming AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE) dynamic, set to kick off in September this year, a high-level delegation led by AFC Commissioner Kemel Tokabayev arrived in Fergana. The visit comes as part of the preparatory measures for Uzbekistan’s reigning champions, Neftchi Football Club, ahead of their highly anticipated international campaign.
The primary objective of the visit is to inspect and evaluate the existing sports infrastructure and its readiness to host elite international matches in strict compliance with the high standards and regulations set by the AFC.
The delegation commenced its inspection tour at the Neftchi Arena, where they thoroughly examined the pitch condition, team and match officials' dressing rooms, medical and sanitary facilities, and other critical infrastructure components.
Following this, the AFC representatives visited the FarDU (Fergana State University) Stadium to assess its technical capabilities and infrastructure. The inspection itinerary also included the Istiqlol Central Stadium and the Neftchi Football Academy, where the delegation reviewed the technical state and overall readiness of these sports complexes to support the prestigious tournament.
Throughout the inspection, the AFC delegation was accompanied by Zohidjon Gofurov, Executive Director of Neftchi PFC, and Nosirjon Otaqoziyev, Vice-President of the Fergana Regional Football Association. The local officials provided detailed technical blueprints and organizational insights regarding each facility.
The AFC delegation’s assessment in Fergana will conclude tomorrow, following which official feedback and final evaluations regarding the stadiums' and facilities' readiness for the ACLE matches will be formally issued.
